Welcome to the Bering Sea
Elders Advisory Group.

Our mission is to enable Alaska Native Tribes to fully participate in the federal fishery management process regarding upcoming decisions affecting the Bering Sea from Kuskokwim Bay to Bering Strait. The Bering Sea Elders Group provides traditional guidance for protecting  subsistence and our way of life.

Our goal is to help our people across the coastal regions  work together as one voice.

All Tribes who rely on ocean and coastal resources in the region are invited to join. Other Tribal organizations are welcome as supporters of the Bering Sea Elders Advisory Group.

“Our people have survived since time immemorial due to a complete understanding and respect for the land and waters that provide food, clothing and spiritual sustenance. We are now facing challenges before unseen by our people. This project engages our villages and will help our children to stay connected to their roots and the wisdom of the Elders.”   – Arthur Lake, Kwigillingok

Bering Sea Report photoThis report shows extensive areas where Alaska Native hunters and local fishermen harvest ocean resources, and the marine waters important to the resources we rely on.  The report can support our leaders and inform outside decision makers about how we depend on the ocean and how our life is inseparable from it.
